on members - Android and EffieWe're honored to be selected as the first members to be profiled in Joe's new Member Profiles column. So, let me tell you a bit about us. First of all, we are a team. When Joe suggested a member profile on me, I just assumed he meant us. You'll seldom find either of us without the other nearby. We've been very happily married for nearly seventeen years and do almost everything together. |

I've been around motorcycles all my life. My dad had two Indians and used to go to Laconia back in the early 60's. I've been riding for well over half my life and enjoy all kinds of motorcycling from blasting across the country to places like Sturgis or Daytona, touring the coast, enjoying the beauty of scenic stretches of highways, to racing up the side of a twisty mountain road. We like going to hill climbs, watching the drags, checking the awesome custom bikes at a show, seeing all of the people at events, and especially participating in large group charity rides.
I'm an advocate of motorcycle rider training and am very opposed to mandatory helmet laws. Having taken the MSF rider course and their experienced rider course, I went on to become a certified Motorcycle Training Instructor and taught classes for 2 years.
I'm probably best known for my dramatic transformations between a long-haired bearded biker type and a clean-shaven yuppie appearance. People who have met me while bearded seldom recognize me after I'm shaved.

Effie has also been around motorcycles all her life. She used to catch rides with her older brother Steve when she was little. Later, she had boyfiriends who rode and one even tried to teach her how to pilot a bike around a parking lot. On one of our early dates, I borrowed my brother-in-law's bike to take her up to Lincoln Gap in Vermont for a picnic.
I was able to convince her to learn how to ride after leaving her home for the weekend a few times while I took my son Eric for a ride during his summer visits. Sick of being left home alone, she got her own bike so all 3 of us could go to motorcycling events together. She has also completed the MSF rider course and the experienced rider course.
